Brooke Testoni's diary on her style, lifestyle and travel

Long gone are the days of me mischievously drinking Long Island Iced Teas at a nightclub until the early hours of the morning. Even though, y-e-s, it was fun, dinner parties with your close friends are now what I call a night out (Sorry in advance for anyone who thinks I am the epitome of boring !). Red wine, great food, even better deserts, a VERY good spotify playlist (I have got Bill Withers, Otis Redding, Fleetwood Mac and Frank Sinatra on repeat) and your close friends.

Dinner Party Attire

What makes a dinner like that even more fun? Dress up a little. Australians like to be casual, but that is why it is so much more fun when we dress up. Take it back to when our grandparents were young. Get in a dress, blow-dry your hair, wear that lipstick and play those records. Your grandparents will appreciate it.

It is funny how many Graphic tees I have in my wardrobe. I never thought I would become a ‘graphic tee’ girl, but my wardrobe is definitely proving otherwise.

Mattea Perrotta

They seem to be my go-to as of late. They tone down what could be an ‘elegant’ look, giving it more of a casual vibe #mealways! Think pants, or pencil skirts back with kitten heels or pointed flats. It certainly would have been a no no back in our parents era, but in this generation, there are numerous graphic tees roaming our streets.

Henri Matisse

Ring of Fire. One of my favourite songs by Johnny Cash. The ring on this trench reminds me a little of that song, this post has nothing to do with little old Johnny though.

Lets talk about Sydney’s weather, which has dramatically cooled down overnight. And by cooled down, I mean, I swear it feels like 10 degrees cooler. Here wearing the best trans-seasonal piece ever invented – The trench coat. You know I love to layer, and you can fit quite a lot of layers underneath this baby.

I am overexaggerating as it really isn’t that cold here, so I have just layered my trench coat over a turtle neck. Give it a few more weeks and I am sure I will have a turtleneck, white shirt, jumper and scarf underneath.

For you Northern folks, who are sun baking on the coast of some magical area of the world, the trench is a piece I wear all year round. You know those nights on holiday when you head to dinner sunburnt, and the night seems to cool right down. Two words: Trench coat. No layers underneath, just wear it over your Summer dress.

Until next time friends.

It is 7am Monday morning and I have been up for 3 hours already, the consequences of getting a new puppy.
Whilst I am here, still awake from the double shot cappuccino I had, lets recap on last weeks MBFWA (Aka Mercedes

Shop one of the seasons biggest trends

I must apologise for the lack of communication on here. I have been working on a project, I hope you will love as much as I do. But whilst I am here, lets talk about my love for velvet. I know that velvet is one of this seasons biggest trends right now, but I have been a huge fan of her since the 1990’s when my eyebrows were plucked way too thin and I wore platforms channelling my inner spice girl.

I know some of you are a little scared to wear the trend even your grandma loves, but if you check out the new velvet arrivals out there, I bet you will be wearing it before you gauge down next Saturdays brunch.

Today, wearing my favourite colour and texture rolled into one.

Shop my favourite velvet pieces, from all our favourite stores below.
